Somewhere Under the Rainbow in the Meatpacking District

Michelle and Eric's meatpacking district and Pier 57 engagement photo shoot.

Michelle, Eric and I were trying for a week to get together to do this engagement shoot but it seemed every time we set up to shoot, rain was forecast. After several rounds of rescheduling and with a shaky forecast at best... we went for it. As I showed up to meet the two at Eric's Pier 57 coffee shop, Cold Process, the sky opened up and a downpour of biblical proportions started. It only lasted a few minutes though, and I had a feeling wet streets could make for a shiny, different kind of look for the photos we set out to do. We went on with it. We started out all around Pier 57 (a fantastic place by the way) and while we were on the back of the pier a gigantic, colorful rainbow appeared in the skies over Lower Manhattan. I've really never seen one like it. It was amazing. After the lucky rainbow, we traveled around the meatpacking district trying to create photos with the feel of "a night out." A great night out it was indeed. Congrats again guys! See you at the wedding.

Melissa and Nate's engagement

I love doing engagement shoots. Sure... when I meet clients who are considering hiring me, we talk and get to know each other a bit, but not like when we do a shoot together. Just getting the chance to wander around a bit together, and hear a little of each other's life stories... it's great. Melissa and Nate were fantastic and totally game for all of my ridiculous photo ideas. I can't wait for their wedding next year.

Congratulations Melissa and Nate!
